Note: Unless otherwise specified, all tropes pertain to the characters, not the content creators that play them.
- Accidental Innuendo:
- The Bamboozlers often discuss attacking other players, but the fact that they sometimes word it as "bam"-ing other players makes their intentions seem far more questionable. Said kinds of statements eventually culminate into the following quote below on Day 8, which is exacerbated by the resultant conversation from that ending up sounding as though they did more than try to break Lizzie's Quizbot-induced Curse of Binding leather armour.Lizzie: I need you to bam me in the bunker.
Grian: (from a distance) Sorry, what?!
Jimmy: …Don't tell Joel. - Day 2 is prime innuendo fuel as its main gimmick revolves around eating, but what takes the cake is Bdubs' episode being titled "What My Clock Taste Like" and Jimmy's being titled "I Made MUMBO Eat My..", which look like they came out of a fan out-of-context compilation video. What makes it even more egregious is the context behind Jimmy's episode title (and where Grian's hysterical laughter in response does not help matters at all):Jimmy: And by the way, if you eat my* balls–
- Jimmy somehow ends up on the wrong end of this again at the start of Day 4 after accidentally hitting Scar:Jimmy: I'm trying not to bang you, but–
- The death messages for a player being killed by another with a mace is "[X] was smashed by [Y]", which naturally makes for an interesting in-game chat when players start receiving maces as part of the Trivia Bot loot table on Day 5…
- Scar's title for his Day 7 episode is "RIDING MY FRIENDS!". Do the math from there.
- The Bamboozlers often discuss attacking other players, but the fact that they sometimes word it as "bam"-ing other players makes their intentions seem far more questionable. Said kinds of statements eventually culminate into the following quote below on Day 8, which is exacerbated by the resultant conversation from that ending up sounding as though they did more than try to break Lizzie's Quizbot-induced Curse of Binding leather armour.
- Crosses the Line Twice:
- While the Immortal Snails of Day 3 are pure Nightmare Fuel material in their implacable nature, the fact that they're all named after snail puns on their designated player target's name or IGN, e.g. 'eSCARgo' for Scar's, makes the deaths inflicted by them quite darkly funny as well.
- On Day 6
, Scar jokes that it's nice to stand up for once, which is a joke nobody else could have made due to being disabled and in a wheelchair in real life.
- Fanfic Fuel:
- Since the Wild Cards are essentially weekly Unexpected Gameplay Changes, suggestions for alternate Wild Card premises run rampant in the fandom, with fan blog Bad Traffic SMP Ideas receiving plenty of Wild Card proposals over the series' run-time and others popping up in fanfics.
- For the "Eyes and Ears" continuity, cc!Martyn has stated that the only full-on cases
of Laser-Guided Amnesia are "seasons that even we the audience never get to witness", only adding fuel to the fire for alternate season premises (alongside a dash of Fridge Horror). The post-Wild Life lore stream even confirms that in the continuity, each Wild Card premise made its own "season" that didn't "feel" right for the players to retain, and Impulse got close to winning some of the post-Limited Life unseen "seasons", which alone make for interesting fanfic premises.
- I Knew It!: People foresaw Mumbo's final death on Day 5 in two different ways: one where from Day 2 onwards, he would lose two lives each session, and the other where he would last one less episode than the last series, which lines up here too (Day 7 in Last Life, Day 6 in Secret Life and Day 5 in Wild Life).
- One True Threesome: While it partially originated from other series such as Empires SMP and Minecraft SOS, the facts that Joel and Lizzie are Happily Married both in-game and in real life, and Jimmy and Joel end up flirting quite a bit in the series, has resulted in some fans shipping Joel with both of them, if not shipping all three of them together. That said, Jimmy/Lizzie is in a more awkward place for a ship — on one hand, the two's Empires Season 1 counterparts are canonically siblings and some fans carry that interpretation over to the Life series; on the other hand, what happens in the Bam Bunker on Day 8 stays in the Bam Bunker on Day 8.
- Scrappy Mechanic: Day 3's Immortal Snails could be considered this by the players in-universe. Several players noted that due to the constant need to monitor them, it was highly difficult to get anything else done during that session.
- Squick: An instance in character design — starting from Day 5, Scott starts growing Extra Eyes on his back, which quickly start spreading session by session. That in itself is disturbing… but by Day 6, one of those new eyes has seemingly found itself on his backside
.
