Whisper Me a Love Song

  • Adorkable: Himari is a very joyous, cheerful girl and she is very cute when she makes those puppy faces. Yori has her moments as well whenever she's around Himari, and both of them are cute together.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Shiho Izumi has pretty much shattered the manga fandom upon her introduction. To some, she is an amazing and complicated character with a rich backstory whose introduction gives hope of Aki finding a Second Love. To others, though, she is an annoying spotlight stealer whose introduction has caused a lot of unneeded and wangsty drama, not to mention being on the more annoying side of the Tsundere scale.
    • It certainly doesn't help that she does indeed become a heavily focused on character in later arcs, which means fans are heavily divided on whether the manga is at it's greatest during her arc or that it became unreadable melodrama, which ruined a sweet story. It also doesn't help that the anime ended up skipping some important moments from Himari and Yori's relationship in order to fit Shiho's arc into the first season.
  • Friendly Fandoms: The manga's fandom has a very friendly relationship with fans of the light novel series There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless…, due to Takeshima Eku providing the illustrations for the latter and whose art style is emulated for the anime.
  • Memetic Mutation: Oregairu's yuri route. Explanation
  • Special Effect Failure: A major criticism of the anime adaptation is that while there are many memorable scenes that are well-animated, there are several others that are very noticeably not, thanks to the anime's very Troubled Production. There's more than one instance where Yori's face goes Off-Model, and there are multiple scenes of microphones suddenly going missing from the stage between shots in Episode 7.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A fair amount of manga readers weren't pleased when the anime skipped over a couple of chapters that focused on Himari and Yori's relationship during the second half, including the Festival arc, therefore it removes most of their scenes together as a couple.
    • The anime compresses through a lot of important events by cramming 3-4 chapters into one episode, which doesn't help as most of those chapters are 30-40 pages long.
    • Since Shiho's arc takes over a chunk of the manga, they end up putting her entire arc throughout the second half of the anime, which causes it to skip over important scenes like the aforementioned Festival arc.
  • Wangst: Shiho's drama can come off as this, as she tends to do a lot of dramatic things with Aki, causing problems with Himari and Yori, also making herself miserable due to her inability to be honest with her feelings.
