- Alternative Character Interpretation: The wild girl's adoptive family is implied to not have treated her well. Although she had food, clothes and a roof over her head, she looks deeply unhappy during the progression of her growing up, and decides to leave them as soon as she's old enough. But were they actually abusive or neglectful, or just not equipped to deal with the issues a feral child would naturally have? Especially since they were dealing with the grief of losing their younger son at the same time. Their expressions while looking at an old family photo, even years later, show they're still not over it.
- The Woobie:
- The young boy who wanders into the woods and is torn apart and eaten by the wolves.
- The wild girl is raised by a pack of wolves and one day meets a human boy who she becomes friends with, but the wolves devour him, leaving her devastated. His family discovers her and takes her in, but she finds it hard to adjust to living as a human and her life with them is implied to be unhappy. When she grows up, she leaves her family and tries to find a job, but gets fired from all of them because she instinctively lashes out at anyone who hurts or provokes her. She realizes she'll never fit into human society and decides to return to living in the wild, even though her wolf family is long gone and there's no one to go back to. When she goes back to the forest, she discovers the bones of her old playmate, and has a sad and guilty expression before leaving her things beside them and disappearing into the woods.
