- Harsher in Hindsight:
- Bam Bam Bigelow and Yokozuna were excluded from the SNES version via memory limitations. They would also be the first of the eight playable wrestlers to pass away.
- Bam Bam Bigelow's ending has him incinerating opposing wrestlers alongside the entire audience. In 2000, Bigelow suffered from second-degree burns while rescuing three kids from a fire, scarring 40% of his body and hospitalizing him for 10 days.
- Bret Hart's story ends with him defending his WWF title 5 times and retiring as champion, before embracing a second career as a film star. In 1997 however, Hart left the WWF in controversial circumstances due to the Montreal Screwjob, and his later tenure at WCW is largely regarded as lacklusture, before being forced to retire in 2000 due to a severe concussion in the ring.
- Razor Ramon's ending has him quitting wrestling altogether and becoming homeless and depressed after being robbed. Hall himself suffered from alcoholism and depression throughout his career, due to a 1983 incident where he killed a man in self defense after wrestling away his gun. His continued alcohol and substance abuse led to several run-ins with the law, which eventually led to his firing by TNA in 2010, and Hall passed away in 2022 due to health issues caused by his struggles.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Shawn Michaels' ending has him being mobbed and stripped by women in the audience, leading him to quit wrestling and become a politician in order to seek the attention he craves. While this was in line with Michaels' then in-ring persona as a smug ladies' man, his forced retirement in 1998 and the birth of his son led to Michaels reevaluating his life choices and as a result, Michaels became a born-again Christian and is a preacher in his spare time.
- Porting Disaster: Pretty much all the console ports suffer from some deficiency. The SNES version lacks Bam Bam Bigelow and Yokozuna, the in-game commentary, the music not being as robust due to limited cartridge space, and is limited to three wrestlers on screen at once. The Sega Genesis version contains all wrestlers and full commentary, and allows for four wrestlers on screen at once, albeit with slowdowns. The Sega 32X version is almost identical to the Sega Genesis version, but the frame rate is at 30 FPS.
