- Audience-Alienating Era:
- Triple H's Reign of Terror during 2002-2005, when he was the World Heavyweight Champion. This is much due to how irritating he was to the audience: many Raws of the time began with him opening with long speeches that took the better part of the first hour of the show, not helped by the fact that Bischoff pretty much handed the title to him. While it did help contribute to the story of Evolution later down the line, it did mean that Triple H kept on top always: even against favorites like Rob Van Dam and Kane, he always won due to the help of his stable companions or worse, with clean wins, like his infamous feud with Booker T that was filled with racist connections. Speaking of Booker, another thing fans hated was how Triple H buried star after star of WCW like Scott Steiner, Goldberg, and Kevin Nash and practically destroyed the credibility of almost all challengers in the way. Not helping are the comparisons made between it and SmackDown at the time, which was incredibly praised for it's high-level matches and more compelling feuds.
- The Guest Host era around 2009 to 2010 was heavily frowned upon. During that period, Raw would be managed by, well, guest hosts. There were just so many troubles with this arrangement: probably the most noticeable from get-go was that many of the hosts had absolutely no interest in wrestling and only were used to bolster ratings for the show and promote the products of these celebrities. Add in the fact that this was also around the PG era, a time where much of the actual wrestling was panned upon, and not even the rare bright spots during that era could salvage the damage done to Raw.
- As one of WWE's main flagship shows, when the company is bad, it's evident by how Raw looks, and nowhere was this more evident than in the 2018 to 2019 period. The list of elements that made it so unbearable is extensive, but, amongst them, some of those that can be listed are Baron Corbin working as General Manager and an unconvincing Heel Authority, shoddy writing that led to senseless feuds — like the one Bobby Lashley and Sami Zayn had over a hat, of all things — Brock Lesnar being absent for some time while still the Universal Champion leading to the show not having a top prize, Roman Reigns being in his Big Dog phase, not as hated as before but certainly not beloved and just bizarre gimmicks — such as Dean Ambrose becoming a germophobe (a gimmick that would lead to Jon Moxley leaving WWE after a infamous script where he was to blame Reigns for his leukemia) and Chad Gable becoming Shorty G and so on — and terrible feuds that led to unsatisfying conclusions due to shoddy writing, poor match quality or both.
