Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire

Go To

  • Ass Pull: The hovering shoes are seen as this. They are meant to be an explanation on how could the vampire would be able to fly, but the prototype and its creator Tulie have nothing to do with the rest of the case asides from the one scene where he appears and starts complaining about them. Not okay that, no information is given to the audience around how did the culprit knew about the shoes or how and why did he steal them. As such, it just generates more questions that it answers.
  • Awesome Music: The Scooby Gang's song is incredibly catchy and fun. You get the impression the cast were having as much fun with it as their characters were.
  • Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: The culprit is actually the most sympathetic of the suspects this time around. He's a fairly decent guy while being with the Gang, doesn't go on his way to hurt bystanders and his only intention is to save his business and his family legacy. Compare this with Lita, the jerkass owner of the festival ; Jasper, the insufferable Moral Guardian taking advantage of the situation to become mayor or the vampire actors that wanted to sacrifice Daphne for a potential reward and his actions don't seem too bad.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: More that a few fans noted how bizarre of a choice was to make a Scooby-Doo musical and not feature The Hex Girls.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Shaggy believing he's becoming a vampire and wanting to stay away from Scooby and the group could have been a fun subplot but has very little pay-off, he considers splitting up of Scooby for one minute before realizing he doesn't have the heart to do it and then when he re-encounters with the gang, Velma quickly makes him see reason, the gang barely even notices their absence and even Shaggy doesn't seem to angst much on the possibility he may become a monster.
    • Alternatively, while Shaggy and Scooby are split from the group they find evidence related to the hovering shoes and Bram and the other actors's criminal activities, yet none of the things they find out end up being relevant on the resolution of the case.
  • Trapped by Mountain Lions: Shaggy and Scooby are split from the group for half of the movie because of the former believing to start to become a vampire, this subplot seems at first like a setup for something given they discover important information that could help the case, but once they reunite with the gang, his claims to be a vampire are quickly dismissed and they never reveal any of the things they discovered. So, it's really just an excuse to have Shaggy and Scooby out of the picture while the rest of the Gang solve the mystery.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Not exactly a Villainy-Free Villain by any means but Vicent Van Hellsing was mostly just scaring people in his property to get attention driven to his festival, which is less of a crime and more of a publicity stunt, no people are actually hurt by his actions and Lita, the owner of the festival, not only isn't bothered by this but fully embraced and invoked the publicity. Even the Daphne's kidnapping/vampire wedding isn't entirely his fault as much as the actors taking his role too far and he simply going along with it for the sake of more publicity. Really, the only ilegal thing he did was stealing Tulie's prototype for the hovering shoes but even that is completely unrelated to the main story and is never acknowledged by the Gang, so we never discover how much of a role he had on that theft or why he did it.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The fact that neither Fred, Daphne nor Velma went on their way to search for Scooby and Shaggy after they went missing for two days doesn't exactly paint them as the best of friends.
