- Abandon Shipping: Suffice to say, after reading pt3 where Darby is revealed to be a rapist, pretty much anyone will give up on any ships involving him, ESPECIALLY Darby x Melissa.
- Adorkable: Jason, despite his general front as a stalwart leader is shown to also be a total nerd for the in-universe book series, Journey of the Stormbreaker.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The Ghost has a mysterious tumbleweed companion that follows him everywhere, to the point of the story utilizing it to signify his presence. This character was introduced in pt2, a decent amount of time prior to the actual tumbleweed Pokémon Bramblin and Brambleghast being introduced in Scarlet and Violet. Even more amusing is that near the end of pt3 the tumbleweed is revealed to have been commandeered by a Flabébé known as Whisper. The chapter in which this reveal was made was written only a few months prior to the release of Scarlet and Violet, had it happened just a bit later, this character might have been retconned to be a Bramblin instead.
- Moral Event Horizon:
- Darby will more likely than not cross this for any reader in pt3 when he attempts to date rape Melissa.
- If Hidekage hasn't already reached the Beyond Redemption point for you by virtue of pitting his enormous number of children against each other in a life or death exam, showing absolutely no regard to the ones who die, and even selling their corpses to be used for science experiments, he will most likely in pt6 where it's revealed he used, or at least threatened use of a love potion to get Marie's mother to have children with him.
- If pt4 didn't make you hate Itzal due to his manipulation, and seeing him use his cult members as tools to fuel the Scarlet Flame, pt6 gives us a full showcase of all the horrible things he and his circus members have been doing behind the curtains.
- Wangst: While Jet is most certainly justified in his disdain for nobility given his backstory, some would argue he allows it to interfere with his work far too much by getting into childish fights with Melissa at the beginning, especially given that he's meant to be one of the highest ranking leaders of the Foresters.
