- Adaptation Displacement: Not many Australians born after the mid-1980s knew that the song actually preceded the television show (by 25 years!) and was not written specifically for it. Or that the Banana toy featured on Play School was around well before the show, and wasn't just a piece of The Merch that the show later spawned. Or that there was even a series of picture books published in The '80s that not only featured many Bananas and the Teddies, but Beans in Jeans, Zucchinis in Bikinis and other such creatures.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Filipino kids loved this show that they even had licensed notebooks featuring the characters. It was also very successful in Venezuela, Brazil and Thailand during the late 90s.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Lulu's Magic. Several years down the road, Final Fantasy X was released- which had a black mage named Lulu.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: In regards to the 2011 reboot. One Facebook page calling for the new series to be canned managed to amass a whopping 50,000 "likes".
- Unintentional Uncanny Valley: Some might say the old series fell into this trope, but the new bananas have lips... and teeth... and eyebrows. And Rat looks completely different from his earlier incarnation.
