Bad Sisters

  • Catharsis Factor: We all knew John-Paul’s death was coming and was rightfully deserved. He was a bigoted, abusive, lying, hypocritical, sadistic, and petty bully and rapist, but the fact that it was Grace, the most frequent victim of his abuse, is icing on the cake, especially since it was in reaction to his most heinous act.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Watch the trailer again. Every time Thomas talks about murder or foul play, Grace appears on screen immediately afterwards. The trailer was telling us who the killer was all along.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: On another TV show, insurer Thomas Claffin would be the underdog main character investigating the insurance claim of a man who died under mysterious circumstances while under threat of bankruptcy and with a convalescent wife who's pregnant, but in this one, while he's right in suspecting foul play from the Garvey sisters' possible involvement in John Paul's death, the manner in which he approaches his investigation feels completely unprofessional, up to including dragging his reluctant brother Matthew into the investigation, barging into the sisters' houses as if he was an actual detective, invading their privacy (like taking their garbage and taking pictures of their belongings without permission), and being as patronizing and belittling to them as John Paul was.
