Bad Rats: the Rats' Revenge

Go To

  • Bile Fascination: A large amount of the game's infamy comes from the game's poor quality standing out in the early days of Steam, leading it to become a gag gift and decent seller.
  • Ethnic Scrappy: The Bomber is rather disliked for being a Muslim stereotype.
  • Event-Obscuring Camera: The game uses a "one-position" camera, but in perspective view. This makes it slightly hard to see if you're placing the rat at the right position when behind a corner.
  • Fan Nickname: Most people call the Bomber "Terrorist Rat."
  • Game-Breaker: In Bad Rats Show, the 3D levels are the most difficult stages in the game....unless you use the Pope Rat. Since the Pope Rat is basically a Tractor Beam, place him near the switch, and he absolutely breaks the 3D stages when you get the ball airborne.
  • Memetic Mutation: Due to its low quality and price, Bad Rats is often presented as a gag gift on Steam (though this has lessened dramatically once Steam reworked their inventory system so that people can actually turn down gifts).
  • No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: The developers seem to have embraced the game's infamy, and routinely discount the game to $1, so it can be purchased as a gag gift.
  • "Seinfeld" Is Unfunny: A negative example. Bad Rats stood out for its poor quality when it first came out because Steam used to be strict regarding the quality of the games sold on their platform. But since now lazily made, low quality games are a dime a dozen on Steam, it's just one more terrible game among many, many others.
  • Squick: The graphic cat deaths.
