- Audience-Alienating Premise: For many, the idea of playing as a cockroach and crawling around a disgusting apartment will be an automatic turn-off.
- Cult Classic: Despite its Audience-Alienating Premise, the game was a commercial and critical success on release. It is considered an odd but unique title to this day and often appears on lists of top adventure or PC games.
- Most Wonderful Sound: The music that plays after solving a puzzle provides a welcome feeling of relief and triumph.
- Nausea Fuel: This game is not for the squeamish, full of gruesome close-ups of a filthy bar/boarding house and various creepy-crawlies both living and dead.
- Special Effects Failure:
- The cutscene that shows Roger's birth and his mother's death has the newborn Roger played by a baby doll that couldn't have cost more than five bucks.
- The Golden Ending is supposed to show Roger and Eddie on a beach in Belize. The actors are clearly just sitting in beach chairs in front of umbrellas and potted plants. You can even see a brick wall behind them if you look closely.
