Baby Steps (2025)

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Players disagree on how to interpret Nate's visit to the angel statue. When Nate prepares to use his one wish to go home, he starts a sentence with "I wish…", sees himself laying on the couch back at home, and despondently says "I was dead". Was he remembering how miserable his life was and tried to use the wish to kill himself, or was he realizing that he's been dead the whole time and decided to not make a wish at all?
    • Following up on the "suicide" interpretation, after Nate wastes his wish, Ethan appears behind Nate and tells him "it doesn't work that way, I'm afraid". Was he reiterating what Mike said earlier about how people can't die in this world or was he saying that Nate's wish to die didn't work because he's already dead?
  • Nintendo Hard: As expected by any game Bennett Foddy is involved with, Baby Steps is no exception. Expect to fall on your ass time and time again, while the non-linearity sometimes allows the player to choose a less frustrating path, there are many points the player has no other option than to surmount extremely difficult, steep, and slippery terrain.
