  • Salvaged Story:
    • For those who were unhappy about Iroh feigning paralysis as an excuse to cuddle up with (an actually paralysed) June in the show - and the whole thing being Played for Laughs - the comic makes a point of having him apologize for this behavior soon after their reunion.
    • Also, while Iroh's Tragic Backstory continues to be popular to this very day, over the years people have noted that there were actually a lot of morally ambiguous implications with it: While the show treats his decision to retreat from the war after his sons' death in a squarely sympathetic light- with most of the shame associated with it a result of the Fire Nations' unfairly militant culture- fans have noted many soldiers on both sides of the war endured similar losses for under Iroh's command, making his decision to cut his losses only after he lost his own son almost entitled, in a sense. While this story continues to stress that Iroh had sympathetic reasons for stopping his military campaign, as the pain of Lu Tens' loss made him realise that he was inflicting that pain on others as well, it does actually tackle the issue of Iroh rendering his mens' sacrifices void and forces Iroh to confront his actions as the Dragon of the West head-on.
