- So Bad, It's Good: The film is chock-full of some of the absolute worst examples of both Artistic License – Nuclear Physics and Just Train Wrong ever committed to film, meaning that the more knowledgeable you are about these subject matters, the more the film's inaccuracies cause it to descend into utter hilarity. Even if you're completely ignorant of both subjects, the corny acting, cliched story, and extremely dated visual effects make the film an amusing watch.
- Special Effect Failure: The destruction of Denver by a nuclear bomb would have required a high-end feature film budget to convincingly realize back in 1999. Given a TV movie budget (if admittedly a decent one for the time), it's no surprise that the end result was barely passable on its first airing, and looks absolutely terrible nowadays.
