- Common Knowledge: As their actors were not credited, many people have assumed that Rik Mayall and John Rhys-Davies provided the voices of Cacofonix and Vitalstatistix in the English dub. While it has been confirmed Mayall did voice the former, the voice for the latter doesn't really sound like any of Davies' other roles, making his involvement more dubious.
- Sequelitis: The film is usually considered among the weakest of the Asterix franchise's animated entries, tied with Asterix the Gaul (1967) and Asterix and the Big Fight (1989). The Disneyfication with music numbers (to be fair, the previous films had songs too but they were better-received) and the lack of the series' usual beloved wit are often pointed out. The stereotypes about Native Americans haven't aged that well either.
- Superlative Dubbing: Inverted with the Swedish dub, which doesn't have the voice actors from the previous films, has bad voice mixing and when Asterix and Obelixs sings in the American village one can hear the original song in the background.
