- Anti-Climax Boss: The final boss of XXL 2, the final giant Roman. Like the previous giant Roman bosses, he's slow and has easily avoidable attacks. He also isn't upgraded in any way. The fight against 100 Caesars before him is actually much harder.
- Catharsis Factor: In XXL, Egypt has a section where you can get infinite magic potions and effortlessly obliterate 400 Romans.
- Game-Breaker: The Twister Combo and its upgrade, the Twister Fusion Combo.
- In XXL, buying the Twister allows you to make Astérix and Obélix spin into tornadoes who can sweep up large amounts of Romans. If you get the Twister Fusion upgrade, then the two tornadoes can merge into a single one that also shoots lightning strikes.
- In XXL 2, the Twister Fusion becomes the default version of the combo, and is only achievable when using the magic potion. It also is only available after the third boss fight, when you free Suchafuss.
- In Olympic Games, the Twister Fusion can be bought at the merchant at the entrance of the Olympic village, for a much cheaper price than in the first game. It still requires Asterix to be under the effects of the magic potion to execute. It is also the only way to efficiently defeat the million Romans at the end of the game, to the point where you can even get a discount on the combo (all your helmets instead of the usual price) if you haven't bought the combo before reaching the final fight.
- Good Bad Bugs: In the first game, if you are really fast on the inputs, it is possible to make combo moves without draining the combo meter. The key is to complete the input as soon as the meter appears and before the "COMBO" text disappears. This glitch is what allows for Twister to become so busted.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: In XXL 2, Asterix and Obelix beat up Roman caricatures of Ryu, Mario, and Sonic as well as Romans holding Pac-Man shields. All four video game characters mentioned would eventually become playable in the Super Smash Bros. series.
- Padding: Did Rome in XXL really have to have a fight against 1000 Elite Mooks?
- Sequel Difficulty Drop: XXL 2 is much easier than XXL due to a wider variety of attack options and more accessible items.
