- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Although Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra is well liked in several countries thanks to great local dubs and remains by far the most popular in its native country, it's this one that remains the most popular abroad out of all the Asterix live-action films. One key explanation (besides the general quality past Mission Cleopatra) might be the fact that unlike its sequels, it doesn't make much references to modern French pop culture that would be alien outside of France, unlike the following films.
- So Okay, It's Average: While it's generally agreed that the film was overhyped and doesn't make a dent in its sequel, Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, nowadays it is considered in better regards than the last three, Asterix at the Olympic Games, Asterix & Obelix: God Save Britannia and Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. While it does have an All-Star Cast for the sheer sake of it, it's generally felt as not relying on short gimmicky cameos (which The Olympic Games and The Middle Kingdom did with abandon to much critical/audience indifference), feels more accurate to the tone of the comics (while Mission Cleopatra is lauded, it feels more like Alain Chabat writing Asterix like La Cité de la peur than what René Goscinny did) — something the late Albert Uderzo was adamant about —, and Asterix and Obelix don't feel like they are somewhat overshadowed by the supporting cast unlike what Mission Cleopatra did with them.
