- Fanon Discontinuity: Fans of the show often disown this from the rest of the series, due to the ugly CGI and Arthur's neglectful treatment of Pal making him come across as Unintentionally Unsympathetic.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
- Sue Ellen. A lot of people wish she was in the film because she's one of the only main child characters who doesn't appear, aside from Fern. But Sue Ellen is more of a fan-preferred character than Fern is, so more people wish the former was in the film than the latter.
- Grandma Thora. Aside from being mentioned briefly by Arthur's mom at the start, she is completely absent from the movie, and some people wish she wasn't.
- Unintentional Uncanny Valley: The way the characters were translated into 3D doesn't look the best, to say the least.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Arthur falls under this to some people. While the film does make him feel bad for losing Pal, he loses some sympathy due to him being rather neglectful towards Pal, as he left Pal outside in the hot sun while he was arm wrestling with Francine, forgot to feed him breakfast to instead play a water balloon fight with his friends, didn't take him outside to pee, and got mad at him for revealing his hiding spot even though Pal needed to pee. In addition, montage scenes which could show a more positive light for Arthur instead show him being more neglectful to Pal as Arthur choked Pal by dragging him with a leash, and since the movie hints that Pal has worms, it is implied that Arthur is still feeding Pal food he shouldn't eat. Even YouTuber PeanutButterGamer, the diehard Arthur fan he is, admits that he would have ended the movie at Arthur's Jerkass Realization and even goes as far as to declare Arthur is the movie's villain and that he rightfully deserves to be sad when he realizes he treated his dog poorly, and doesn't deserve to find him back.
