Arthur S5 E2 - "Kids are from Earth, Parents are from Pluto" / "Nerves of Steal"

Go To

Nerves of Steal:

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Many fans like to forget this episode ever happened. Considering Buster's below mentioned illegal actions, the fact that Arthur gets shamed for something he didn't even do, and the episode's Downer Ending, it's not hard to see why.
  • Informed Wrongness: Arthur is supposed to be seen as being just as guilty as Buster for trying to cover up his friend's shoplifting, despite the fact that Buster actually tried to frame him by putting the stolen toy in Arthur's backpack. Despite this, Arthur still ends up getting scolded by his parents for helping to return the toy, even though he actually did nothing wrong and was just a victim of Buster's scummy actions.
  • Never Live It Down: Ask many fans and a majority of them will say that this is Buster's worst showing due to his morally-questionable actions in the episode, specifically shoplifting a toy and almost framing Arthur for it.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Arthur's parents come off as extremely unlikable near the end. While not as harsh as Bitzi, they still tell him off, despite the fact they are well aware that Arthur was almost framed by Buster for stealing the toy.
  • The Woobie: Poor Arthur. He gets roped into Buster's mess due to the latter putting a stolen CyberToy in his backpack, gets dragged into being an accomplice to Buster by force due to it being in his backpack, and in the end, still gets reprimanded and presumably punished for trying to help Buster return the toy in secret.
