- Harsher in Hindsight: Mr. Morris getting injured in "The Half Baked Sale" is a lot harder to stomach following the events of "April 9th", in which he breaks his leg so badly that he's forced to retire and leave Lakewood to live with his daughter.
- Values Dissonance: In "Arthur's Almost Boring Day", when their attempts to keep Arthur and D.W. quiet fail, Mr. and Mrs. Read make them walk to Grandma Thora's in the rain, and Thora is perfectly fine with it. In the 1990s, this was an amusing form of punishment. Today, this would be considered child endangerment with CPS questioning the Reads.
