- Best Known for the Fanservice:
- Maria Montez does a sultry belly dance at her own wedding. It's often forgotten the dance is a distraction so she can poison the wedding cup.
- A close second is a sweaty Turhan Bey being strapped to a torture wheel while shirtless. Hedda Hopper noted he was getting a lot of fan mail for this in particular.
- Designated Hero: This Sherazade is an arrogant diva, who is rude to everyone. While she does suffer Break the Haughty and becomes a little nicer, she's not exactly easy to root for.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: While it succeeded in being a breakout role for Maria Montez, several other notable highlights.
- John Qualen as an extremely different take on Aladdin - a Cloud Cuckoo Lander who is in denial that every lamp he comes across contains a genie.
- Notable tap dancer Jeni Le Gon in a non-dancing role as Sherazade's unnamed Servile Snarker of a maid, who also gets to be Ms. Fanservice in her own right.
- Billy Gilbert as the Big Fun Ahmad, who gets a memorable crossdressing sequence and makes for a very cute woman to the soldiers.
- Turhan Bey has only a handful of scenes as the captain of the guard, but ended up getting hordes of fanmail, later becoming a leading man and nicknamed 'The Turkish Delight'.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Critics at the time noted that the colourful costumes and sets were the main draw rather than the story.
- One-Scene Wonder: The slave auction has a girl who becomes a Shameless Fanservice Girl and turns it into a striptease to increase the bidding. She's said to be bought by a 'Cassim Baba', suggesting she's actually Morgiana of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and therefore the Hero of Another Story.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Bosley Crowther of The New York Times complained of it being an In Name Only adaptation of the 1001 Nights.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: While Kamar is the reason the whole plot gets started, and has a rich backstory involving being an illegitimate heir who was spurned by Sherezade for not being caliph, and his motivation is to usurp the throne just to have her, he can sometimes feel Out of Focus with Hadan being The Starscream, and even the captain of the guard double crossing the both of them.
- Unnecessary Makeover: Haroun has to be shaved to hide him from Kamar's men, but Jon Hall arguably looked better with his beard beforehand. It also has the side effect of making him look less 'ethnic' and more in line with contemporary American fashion standards.
