Aquarion: Myth of Emotions

Go To

  • Awesome Music: "Genesis of Aquarion" and AKINO are back! And this time, it's a duet between AKINO and JAM Project's Yoshiki Fukuyama (better known as Nekki Basara's singing voice).
  • Narm: When Sayo gets Impaled with Extreme Prejudice, Sakko screams and a background shows a symbolic volcano erupting in response to his emotions. For a Wham Shot, this looks cartoonish and at no point in the anime something like this happenes again outside the final battle making a Call-Back to it.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The shift to a chibi-esque artstyle, coupled with the main characters being a bit younger than in previous titles, made some fans conclude that the Aquarion franchise was trying to appeal to a younger audience than usual. Yet, this series starts with a funeral for a young girl, treats the battles with the Shadow Angels as real life-or-death struggles, even showing one of the pilots dying on-screen, and includes a few complex concepts in its world building, even discussing a bit of quantum physics at some points. It also airs late night in Japan, further debunking that it was aimed at young kids.
