- Hilarious in Hindsight: David Soul plays Jefferson Cope in the 1988 film, which made Cope a former swindler thanks to Adaptational Villainy. Soul would later play the even worse Corrupt Corporate Executive Andrew Pennington in the Poirot adaptation of Death on the Nile, Pennington a character with outright murderous motives even in the novel.
- Strangled by the Red String: Raymond and Sarah meet, exchange a few polite phrases and immediately afterwards decide they want to get married. Sure, Raymond longs to escape his mother's tyranny and Sarah has just been through a difficult breakup, so it might justify them jumping to such decisions, but what makes it this trope is the fact that the decision works out.
