- Awesome Music: Judas Priest's "Breaking the Law" during the confrontation between Bobby and the bully. Also "Bastards of Young" by The Replacements.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Munch bringing up the time when he played “Limelight”, playing air-drums and doing a terrible impression of Geddy Lee.
- Funny Moments: Bobby warding off the angry bully who was chasing Brennan. Also doubles as Moment of Awesome.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Em's liking for married men in light of Kristen Stewart's affair with the married director of Snow White & the Huntsman.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Brennan, played by Jesse Eisenberg, says that his parents would rather have him "start a fortune 500 company or something" than be a journalist. Close enough...
- While Joel's family is Jewish, he himself identifies as atheist or "neo-pagan," depending on who's asking. Wouldn't be the last time Martin Starr doesn't believe in God.
- She Really Can Act: This film is often cited as proof that Kristen Stewart really can do more than just Dull Surprise, as she infamously is in the Twilight films.
- Spiritual Sequel: It plays even better if you look at it as Freaks and Geeks: The Movie. It's only got one actor in common, but the style is almost exactly the same.
