YMMV / Abridged on Titan

Go To

  • Crosses the Line Twice: Given how dark the series being abridged is, this is inevitable, but perhaps the best example is the "Mosesu" short.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Between fans of this version and fans of the TFS version; their respective creators aren't hostile at all, and are actually annoyed that a rivalry exists in the first place.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The scenes between Marco and Jean can go from funny to Tear Jerker if one knows what's about to happen to Marco.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • The voices for Jean, Eren, and Mikasa all sound very similar to their official dub voices.
    • Marco reveals that Jean draws pictures of Mikasa at night. The second OVA shows Jean in bed drawing a woman who strongly resembles Mikasa (though this takes place before the two met).
    • The line "You're in Germany, speak English!" becomes this after it's revealed they're actually in Madagascar.
    • Armin being Oblivious to Love to Annie's crush becomes this when canonically Annie is the one Oblivious to Love, both to Bertolt and latter still to Armin himself.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Eren is a more of a jerk in this series, but it still doesn't detract him from his Woobie status in the original series. On top of his blind hatred for Titans after seeing one eat his mother, he also develops an inferiority complex due to how said mother outright saying to his face that Mikasa was her favorite child before said consumption, not to mention that he even hallucinates hearing her taunt him over how much of a disappointment he is.
  • Memetic Molester: Hanji is... unsettling to the other characters, especially Eren, since he's her "scientific interest."
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • In Episode 4, Stephan Krosecz gives one hell of of a disturbing performance when Eren rescues Mikasa from the kidnappers.
Eren: (pretending to be a Wall Worshipper) I'm just trying to save you from going to Hell, friend. (stabs the kidnapper) Oops. Too late.
    • In Episode 8, Jean sees Marco's ghost, who talks with the Voice of the Legion and still has half his face missing. A viewer might suffer a Jump Scare from seeing it the first time, much like Jean himself.
Dead!Marco: YOU OWE ME A WATCH, JEAN.....!
