- Awesome Music: A powerful soundtrack with very talented singers!
- Antonio Cipriano's (Max's) voice is strong, boosting the emotional weight of his songs (like Amazing Grace, How Silent the Sound) or his part in songs (like The Hell of It)
- Cozi Zuehlsdorff's (Lennie's) voice is softer and sweeter, which contrasts yet somehow compliments Antonio's voice very well on their duets.
- Sacha Carlson (Jake) crushes his rock cover of Jesus Freak.
- The instrumental soundtracks (which are typically some flow derived from the main melodies of the songs) make many scenes more emotional and powerful.
- The soundtrack that plays while Lennie is telling Max about her childhood abuse in episode 4 adds extra emotion to the scene.
- The music that plays during Lennie and Max's moment after Lennie's phone call with her mom adds to the tenderness of the moment.
- The ambient soundtrack that plays while Max is tearing into Lennie about how naive her faith is in episode 6 adds so much weight to the scene that it's goosebump-enducing. Especially when a chord hits and the perspective switches to Lennie tearing up.
- Easily Forgiven: After seemingly years of being picked on by Savannah, Lennie seems to forgive her really quickly as after Savannah sings her explanation, Lennie gives her a hug.
- Iron Woobie: Charlie endured much of the same traumas as Max, but unlike Max, he is still enthusiastic and non-cynical.
- Ship-to-Ship Combat: There are several online edits that ship Max with Savannah, whereas Max's Canon love interest is Lennie.
- Woobie Family: Max and Charlie, given all they've been through.
