- Gratuitous Special Effects: Done entirely on purpose. The movie more or less operates on one joke, that this is the last thing that needed to be filmed in 3D.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: At Mary's party, Kumar gets into a debate with someone over whether The Karate Kid (1984) is better than The Karate Kid (2010). Harold & Kumar creators Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz would later go on to write and direct the Karate Kid spinoff series Cobra Kai.
- Retroactive Recognition: Future Dead Meat host Chelsea A. Rebecca appears as an extra in the Christmas party scene note
- Squick: A Dream Sequence where Carlos, Harold's father in law, ejaculates all over a Christmas tree. In 3-D!
- Surprisingly Improved Sequel: This film was seen as an improvement after Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.
- Tear Jerker: Seeing how far Harold and Kumar have fallen apart is a bit depressing after all the adventures they'd been through in the previous two movies. Thankfully, they make up in the end.
- Unintentional Period Piece: Kenneth Park and Harold run into a bunch of protesters holding signs like "Eat the Rich" and "No Wall Street". At the time of the movie, the Occupy Wall Street movement was in full swing.
