- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The Giant Rabbi scene. When Murray snatches his wand away from Duane, Duane mocks him by said "Turn me some bunny rabbit!". Anabel tells him to turn Duane into a little rabbit but he accidently turns him into a giant rabbi instead. Duane then crashes on the motel and starts chasing after them as they ran in fear. Murray using his wand again to teleport him and Anabel back to New York but end up in Central Park zoo. This was never mentioned and the film didn't explain what happened to Duane the motel owner after he got transformed by Murray's accidental spell.
- Cult Classic: People always remember and love this wacky fantasy movie back in the late 90s, despite having negative reviews.
- Ham and Cheese: Martin Short and Kathleen Turner seem to be aware of what kind of movie they're in and don't even try to be subtle with their roles and characters. They both have very little scenes where their characters are treated seriously. Short can't seem to keep a straight face and Turner really chews the scenery, with every other line out of her mouth being a witty one-liner.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Fans really want to see Kathleen Turner as a fairy godmother-turned-evil witch.
- Took the Bad Film Seriously: In constant to most of the main roles, Robert Pastorelli as Oliver Greening seems to be doing the best he can with such a goofy script, with his character being responsible for some of the most wholesome and emotional moments of the film. Even people who dislike the movie tend to like him.
