- Best Known for the Fanservice: The Merchant-Ivory film has an extended sequence of full-frontal nudity by three guys bathing in a river and chasing each other. Some reviews would leave you surprised there’s anything else in it.
- Values Dissonance: The entire dramatic tension of the story is built so strongly around the social values of early 20th century Britain that it can now be legitimately hard to follow at times, and you're left to wonder at why Lucy has so much trouble accepting her attraction to George because the writing assumes it would just be part of your own understanding of the way the world works.
