YMMV / Zoobles

Go To

  • Awesome Music: We got Rainbow performing the theme songs of the series and that is just as good as it sounds.
  • Broken Base: Bakugan Fans are rather bittersweet regarding this series, either loving it or loathing it. Some regard this toyline as a sugary version of Bakugan or otherwise.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Though the toys performed well in the states, it's very veeeery popular in Japan and Korea.
  • Shipping:
    • Foe Yay Shipping:
      • Due to Blacky constantly teasing Chevy in particular when he and the other Black Candies meet the trio, most people think Blacky actually may have a crush on her, and thus ship Chevy/Blacky.
      • And to a lesser extent, some people ship Coron/Mikey and Panky/Cooper as well.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • The 2012 Princess and Family Day series had been pretty jarring to those who were used to the more fantasy-themed series of 2010-2011, the former introducing humans (which are little figurines serving as an alternate way to pop open a Zooble) and the latter being more reminiscent of Slice of Life.
    • The reboot especially disappointed many fans of the older incarnation of the toyline, taking on a more contemporary, modern, social media-inspired, and trendy theme to the toyline, and introducing more humanoid Zoobles, the Z-Girls.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: The Z-Girls, Ambiguously Human critters who have the same ball method as the regular Zoobles, can take on a more animalistic face and form, and have humanoid faces sporting a lot of makeup.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion:
    • Because of how similar both male and female Zoobles appear, it can be difficult to distinguish them by gender without the descriptions, unless their name gives it away.
      • Prancie the butterfly specifically is especially commonly confused as female (due to his pink color scheme and name almost sounding like “Francine”), when he is actually male according to his description.
    • In the Japanese dub, because of their not-so-deep voices, the male Zoobles from the anime can be mistaken as female usually by those who don’t understand Japanese.
    • Randy and Ron were often mistaken as male because of their names.
  • Viewer Species Confusion:
    • Blacky and Mikey can sometimes be confused for dogs as their toys share the same design as dog Zoobles from the western release, though they are confirmed to be foxes instead. Crew, whose toy shares the same mold as fox Zoobles from the western release (such as Fenton and Funzacelli), is specifically called a fennec.
