  • Nightmare Fuel: This book is specifically a psychological thriller told from the perspective of a criminal obsessed with someone he believes to be in love with. You should be prepared for a look into the disturbing criminal mind.
  • Rooting for the Empire: It's almost impossible to dislike Joe, especially in the TV series.

  • The Woobie: Sometimes crossing over into Jerkass Woobie territory, but Beck. Her father was a drug addict who- after a young Beck had found him near death after a bender- eventually abandoned her and her mother for another woman and had children with her, she had feelings for Benji who condescended her and used her purely for sex, her friends’ wealth and patronizing are wearing down on her, her professor sexually harassed her and threatened to ruin her fledgling career, her therapist took advantage of the power imbalance between them and had sex with her, and she is clearly struggling with identity and self-worth. There’s also the little issue of her being stalked and manipulated by a man who not only kills Benji and Peach- who was Beck’s best friend- but eventually Beck herself after locking her away.
