YMMV / Xscape (Michael Jackson Album)

Go To

  • Broken Base: Views on tastefulness aside, fans are divided on whether the Pepper's ghost illusion at the 2014 Billboard Awards was nicely done, simply too creepy, or if an impersonator was used instead.
  • Older Than They Think: "Love Never Felt So Good" actually did see a commercial release before this album, just not from MJ himself; before 2014, the only official release of the song was a cover by Johnny Mathis in 1984, made with the help of songwriter Paul Anka himself.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Critics and fans consider it substantially better than his previous posthumous album, Michael.
  • Win Back the Crowd: The album's intention. Whereas Michael was seen as a cheap cash grab to capitalize off Michael's death, Xscape was praised for its production and song selection. Having a star-studded team of producers working on the album probably didn't hurt either.
