- Audience-Alienating Premise: Fans of the X-Men were turned off by the number of character changes made to fit them within the shoujo demographic, while shoujo fans weren't interested in a story based off of a superhero comic.
- Narm:
- For some reason, the manga's creators decided to change up the powers of Colossus so that instead of simply turning his body into metal, he transforms into a robot that looks like it stepped out of a cheesy low-budget sci-fi film.
- Beast looks more like a giant cross between a honey badger and Totoro◊ than his canon self.
- Pandering to the Base: The story is mostly romance with a little action thrown in at the end, in an obvious attempt to sway the interest of young teenage girls.
- Retroactive Recognition: Raina Telgemeier wrote this?!
- Strangled by the Red String: Kitty and Bobby. The two barely interacted, he always seemed disinterested in her, Kitty never had any concrete interest or chemistry with him, but there is a hint at a Last-Minute Hookup at the end of the story.
