  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Batman in this story. It can be debated whether he would go after any other accused criminal with as much zeal as he does Danielle or if he's suffering a bruised ego from her escaping from him twice.
  • Awesome Art: J.G. Jones cover of Diana's boot on Bruce's face, evoking Dominatrix-like imagery, has become one of the more famous Wonder Woman covers/images.
  • Catharsis Factor: There's many who enjoy this story solely for seeing Batman get humbled by Wonder Woman twice.
  • First Installment Wins: While Rucka would go on to have two well-regarded runs on Wonder Woman, this story has remained is his most notable work on the character.
  • Designated Villain: While some of his worst traits are certainly amplified and on full display here, Batman is ultimately just looking to bring in Danielle for her crimes. He also doesn't know about the whole "ancient demons will kill Diana for not protecting Danny" situation for most of the story.
  • Gateway Series: Has become a common recommendation for people interested in Wonder Woman as it's a short, one-shot, character piece largely free of any Continuity Lock-Out. A rarity for many Wonder Woman stories that isn't an origin.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Diana accepting Danielle into her protection despite not knowing who she is and what brought her to Diana in the first place.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The story is mainly known for the Wonder Woman vs. Batman fight. Or more specifically, Batman decisively losing in a fight to Wonder Woman.
  • Memetic Mutation: The provocative cover and panels from the interior page of Diana with her boot on Bruce's head have been shared around quite a bit. With some usually joking Bruce is into it.
    • Later down the line, some joked that the boot belongs to Amy Rose, given the boot looks like Amy's.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Danny's recounting of Melody's short and tragic life in Gotham as a sexual slave.
  • Signature Scene: Wonder Woman placing her boot on Batman's head and ordering him not to get up is the story's most iconic scene and gets prominently featured in the comic's cover art.
  • Take That, Scrappy!: The version of Batman in this story has all the worst elements of the self entitled "BatGod" that modern Batman is accused of cycling back into under different writers, largely cruel and dismissive of his allies for no discernible reason and being treated as always in the right when arguing with other heroes. As this characterization of Bats had long since become a fan pet peeve of fans of other DC characters seeing him get taken down a notch was cathartic for a significant percentage of readers.
