YMMV / Wendigo

Go To

  • Epileptic Trees:
    • The movie's nature leaves you wondering on whether or not everything truly is happening and it's all in Miles's head.
    • Because of known wendigo lore, it's often believed Otis's more aggressive behavior could be because of the wendigo's influence.
  • Narm:
    • While the film does have some good moments of horror, it's pretty clear this was one of Fessenden's early films with some of the dialogue and acting.
    • The editing effects (especially when the Wendigo's shown) can either be terrifying or borderline awkward at best.
  • Newer Than They Think: This is the movie that pretty much invented the trope of the wendigo as having the head of a stag.
  • Retroactive Recognition: While the movie didn't garner that much attention when it came out, most people today know of it's existence due to director Larry Fessenden's involvement in horror, in particular in the writing of Until Dawn. Yes, that Until Dawn. Makes sense considering both the movie and game focus on Fessenden's love of the wendigo lore.
