  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • An NPC in Cancer's Realm gives you an item called the Orb of Roundness when spoken to (regardless of which dialogue option you choose), which seems to have no use. Later on in Pisces' Realm, some text appears that says that the Orb of Roundness is resonating, but nothing else happens and it's never brought up again.
    • A few come up in Aries' Realm:
      • The party go to stay in a hotel room, only for some enemies to show up and fight them. Then some more enemies appear, and a third group after that. This serves no purpose other than to trigger an event flag that lets you explore the rest of the hotel, but could have easily been cut and not have NPCs blocking the doors in the first place.
      • The hotel has a theatre, and if you helped Franz earlier and received a ticket from him, there will be a cutscene where the party watches some of his play before Virgo decides she's had enough and leaves. The only thing you get out of this is an achievement on Steam.
      • There's an optional scene where Virgo accidentally gets summoned by some other hotel guests, who apologize and are fairly friendly when spoken to despite the fact that they were trying to summon a demon.
      • Not too long before the final boss, you approach three doors, and an NPC tells you that one of them leads to riches while the others lead to a torture room. Regardless of which one you choose, you pick wrong and end up in the torture room, where you have to avoid swinging blades on a conveyor belt while various NPCs watch, which is notably one of the few actual puzzles in the game. This never referenced afterwards, and is especially jarring on the Mutable Route since it comes after an important and lengthy cutscene.
  • Demonic Spiders: The lion enemies in Leo's Realm and its respective Black Hole do large amounts of damage and have defenses that can make defeating them take a while; not helped by the fact that you only have one or two party members when you fight them (unless you visit the Black Hole after Algol is back in the party).
  • Fridge Brilliance: Some of the Zodiacs are associated with elements that relate to their signs. For example, Sagittarius and Aries are both fire signs and their characters are known as the Fire Moth and Red Hot Chili Aries respectively, while Aquarius' theme is called "Wind In Yer Sails" because despite the name suggesting otherwise, Aquarius is an air sign.
  • Player Punch:
    • If you don't pay attention to the color of the options, you can easily be fooled into killing Taurus when you thought you were going to spare her. Even worse, this leads to the game's worst ending.
    • It's implied that the game's best ending is actually the standard ending of the cycle, which means that it's happened many times before and will eventually be undone again as a new cycle starts. No matter what you do, you can't give the characters a happy ending without it being taken away from them.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The battle system itself is a point of contention among the playerbase for various Guide Dang It! reasons:
    • The fact that the game never walks you through enough on what the various stats for battle mean, leading players to have to memorize the definition of each stat by inspecting them on the Status screen. The stat labeled Cuteness even seems to be a joke at first with no utility, but Word of God from a developer confirms that it does do something. Note 
    • Every party member has eight pieces of equipment in total to organize for attacking and countering, calling for a lot of micromanaging with the above-mentioned stats. Easy enough when you only have to focus on Virgo, but harder once Algol and Spica join the team.
    • The weakness chart for the Zodiac signs (Cardinal, Mutable, and Fixed) isn't elaborated on for long, meaning players have to associate the types with the matching colored text. Though the weakness chart can be observed in the Status screen, there is no display for enemy weaknesses in battle, other than to identify them by their associated colors (purple, green, and red). This is easy enough at first, but later enemies start to have colors such as blue to them that makes it difficult to associate their typing. Note 
  • Surprise Difficulty: Players drawn into the game for its pastel aesthetics and quirky characters and play on the default difficulty will find a very punishing game that requires immediate mastery of its mechanics. However, there is a "Stress Free" mode for those who are only interested in the story.
  • That One Puzzle:
    • The ice skating puzzle in the Pisces Realm is quite difficult to do without a guide, as it involves trying to find the right position in order to reach the exit, but you can easily end up going round in circles for ages as you try to figure it out.
    • The chess board puzzle in Libra's playable memory can be very frustrating, as you have to react quickly in most areas or you'll be knocked back to the start, and it's not clear which areas are safe for you to take the time to plan your next moves.
