- Alternate Character Interpretation: The protagonist and the person(s) who force him into the sewers, due to their lack of backstory. Is the protagonist being sent into the sewers as punishment for a crime? Is he just a regular guy who got sent down to the sewers as some sort of murder/kidnapping plot? Is he being sacrificed? Being forced to "vanish" after witnessing something he shouldn't have?
- Esoteric Happy Ending: As noted in the Fridge Horror page, your character escapes, but doesn't lock the door to the sewers on the way out, meaning that the molemen can now go to the surface, where nobody evens knows of their existence.
- Fan Nickname: "Molemen" for the monsters in the game, courtesy of Markiplier (though he actually called them "Mole-people").
- Moral Event Horizon: The kidnapper(s) in the beginning crossed it by throwing the protagonist into the tunnels to be killed by the monsters.
- Paranoia Fuel: Occasionally, you'll come across tunnels that the monsters can't follow you through. The notes sometimes mention that the authors don't know what dug them. If the monsters you see can't use them... what made them?
- There is the possibility that you can witness a moleman enter one such tunnel during a playthrough, even though you will never encounter one in the tunnel with you. It still makes navigating the tunnels a nerve wracking experience.
- You'll never know when the next time you'll encounter a moleman is, and it's terrifying. The clicking only adds to the horror.
- You will never know when, where, or how the maze changes while you're in it, encountering dead ends where before there were open pathways.
- Scrappy Mechanic: The glow sticks. They're limited in number, last for only fifteen seconds, and only illuminate things in a three foot radius around you.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: The visuals in this game are pretty detailed for a free indie game.
- Too Dumb to Live: The protagonist leaving the door open when he escapes. There is no reason for him to not close it. Even if someone else gets thrown into the sewers, the keys would still be in the door allowing them to escape. The monsters likely lack the motor skills to open the door themselves. By leaving the door open, the monsters now have access to the ladder.
- The Woobie:
- The protagonist, who's thrown into the sewers, left to find the exit or die trying.
- Hank and Phil, two maintenance workers who got lost in the tunnels, went insane due to being unable to find their way out, and were most likely killed by the monsters.
