  • Anvilicious: Seemingly not a chapter goes by without the characters talking to each other about how terrible racial, gender, or orientation-based prejudice are. It's one thing to tell the audience such in a story, but this comic seems to only know how to have characters monologue about it.
  • Complete Monster: The Albino is an ancient wolf spirit. Once a remorseless and sadistic killer who slaughtered countless innocents, the Albino was placated with bridal sacrifices whom it would murder on their wedding night. Becoming obsessed with a new bride, the pig Bes, the Albino's life ended up manifested within Bes's reincarnation Leslie. Returning to drive her to madness and resume its killing rampages, the Albino gleefully describes itself in the worst terms and completely refuses to change its ways.
  • Iron Woobie: Khal, doubling as Jerkass Woobie. Rejected by his peers in Tijoux, things appeared to look up for him when he became a hunter for the tribe, only for a murder to occur, getting him pinned for it with the angry crowd killing his parents and forcing him to flee.
  • Popular with Furries: The story takes place in a World of Funny Animals and has a popularity amongst furries.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: The comic could be seen as the western counterpart of Beastars, as both works deal with anthropomorphic beings involved in a very dark conspiracy that questions the very basis of their worlds.
  • The Woobie: Leslie. Her life so far has just been awful. Born to a marriage of convenience where both parents cheated on each other and often ignored her, she grew an outcast who was, like Khal, branded for a prophecy where a lot of people either want her dead or under their thumb for their purposes. The struggle has cost her her two only friends and her freedom. Once Maxime, Nicholas, Napoleon, and the Albino are all dead, though, her life improves significantly, with the Reproduction Program being abolished and her and Khal falling in love. To say she earned her happy ending would be a massive understatement.
