  • Anti-Climax Boss: Much like Shadowgate, the room directly BEFORE the final boss is much more difficult than the last battle itself.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The guardian of the Blothney Gem. Even the game itself has a difficult time trying to explain what it is and what it's doing there.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Being killed by a Giant Spider is terrifying, but the game manages to make it comical by repeatedly warning you to not go where the spider is located. Eventually, the game caves and lets you go to the spider, and you're killed right away. The icing is the game's I Warned You take.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The Ghost Lady is your first 'enemy' and once beaten, she'll disappear from the plot. But she's the one thing everyone remembers from the game.
  • Nightmare Fuel: This probably doesn't surprise anybody. It's on a separate page now.
  • Signature Scene: The Ghost Lady and her Nightmare Fuel close-up. Not only is it found early into the game, new players will always make some sort of mistake that will cause the scene to happen.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The game is clearly a product of the 1980s as the story is triggered by having your sibling leave and look for a (pay) phone to call for a tow truck. In a world of cell phones like the present day, this would not happen and thus there would be no story.
