- Badass Decay: Cassie in Series 3 and 4. She goes from being The Heart to screwing things up due to her distraction, which gets Pete Carr killed; she loses a lot of her relationship with her father due to her objection to his new girlfriend and his dementia results in him being rude to her repeatedly; her son sides against her in this argument; she admits that she is pursuing the police officers with a heavy dose of It's Personal; and then she dies!
- Shipping Bed Death: Although not sex. You can't really blame people for shipping Sunny and Cassie, two dysfunctional and lonely detectives, but Cassie awkwardly kissing Sunny (and being shut down) at the end of Series 2 more or less torpedoes it.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: We learn very little about Rob in Series 4, even though he kept a body in his freezer for 30 years.
- Tear Jerker: Many examples throughout the series, but the main one has to be Cassie's death in the Series 4 finale.
