- Harsher in Hindsight:
- The trick of putting a fake mistake in a coded message didn't work well in real life because so many mistakes were made by hastily-trained wartime radio operators. There were several notorious incidents of British agents using this to let London know they'd been captured, only to be ignored.
- The crew of one ship boarded by the real-life Atlantis failed to throw their weighted bag of top secret documents overboard because the officers concerned were killed during the attack. One of the documents was a detailed report on the weakness of British forces in the Far East in the event of war with Japan, which the Germans handed over to the Japanese government.
- Special Effects Failure: The obvious model shots, and the rock-solid camerawork on what's supposed to be a ship in mid-ocean.
