YMMV / Ultimate Spider-Woman

Go To

  • Genius Bonus: As with Ultimate Sleepwalker, this series has a number of references on everything from a variety of rock bands to the fashion industry to the works of William Shakespeare. Most of these are only referred to in passing, coming from the author's insane memory for trivia and serving mostly to reinforce characterization, rather than developing the plot.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Aside from the expected American and Canadian fandom, readers from Denmark to Brazil to Trinidad & Tobago have all checked the series out at one time or another.
  • Growing the Beard: As with Ultimate Sleepwalker, it took a bit of time for this series to really come together. The first Annual is generally considered the point where it really started to pick up, particularly as Mary Jane actively begins trying to improve her often combative demeanor.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Jack O' Lantern serves as Spider-Woman's Arch-Enemy. Just a few years after this story started he became the archenemy of another Spider-Family member in the mainstream continuity.
  • Les Yay: Scorpia does a lot of this towards Spider-Woman, although Spider-Woman attributes it to Scorpia trying to Squick her out and throw her off her game.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: In this series, it's the A-listers who are the guest stars and the C-listers who step into the spotlight.
