  • Advertised Extra: "Extra" is a bit of a stretch, but Jon Bon Jovi dies halfway through the movie offscreen after only about ten minutes of fairly insignificant screen time. However, marketing would have you believe he was the main character.
  • Special Effects Failure: While the exterior sets and models for the modified S-class sub and the Type-VII U-boats are decent enough, the film can’t seem to decide what class of destroyer they are facing, as that model switches between Narvik- and Z-31-class configurations between shots. Look for the forward guns flip-flopping between two single mounts and one twin mount.

  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The plot involves Americans seizing a German U-boat, which really happened in 1944, and was arguably much more dramatic than the movie’s Hollywood History version, and could have been a compelling historical film.
