YMMV / Twitch Plays Pokémon Metronome Sapphire

Go To

  • Arc Fatigue: While Metronome Sapphire transition to side-game was initially well received, most viewers grew sick of it long before it got retired. Due to the heavy amounts of randomization, the complete lack of battle strategy, and the fact that the game had already been beaten during the original intermission, there was literally nothing to do aside from just running around in seaweed hoping to encounter a Pokémon that hadn't been caught yet. This wouldn't have been so bad, if it hadn't lasted for almost eight months. Needless to say, when it made a return as a special Christmas intermission, reactions were mixed.
    • This had gone to such an extreme that, at some point, the chat decided to release a major team member merely out of spite and boredom. Keep in mind that side-games have each of their inputs decided by majority vote, so this was not only completely intentional, but agreed upon by most people present. The side-game was actually briefly disabled for a while afterwards, and Metronome Sapphire was finally retired less than a month later. The stream operator notably made this comment about the event, which quickly became a copypasta of its own:
m4_used_rollout: I think this is the clearest sign yet that Metronome Sapphire has gone on way too long. If chat would like to keep playing, let me know. Otherwise, we'll keep the sidegame turned off until we find another game that fits. If you'd like to suggest a new sidegame, we need a Pokemon-based game that runs in our copy of the BizHawk emulator (GB, GBA, SNES, NES, etc) and is not suitable for a run, either because it's too buggy, too short, or not actually in English.
