YMMV / Tomica Hero Rescue Force

  • Awesome Music
  • Cult Classic: Downplayed, but even over a decade after its final episode, Rescue Force retains a strong fanbase for its fun atmosphere, stunning visuals, appealing characters, and how it plays every emergency completely seriously, with the jokes reserved for training or downtime scenes. The series was also praised for holding up to modern standards and is quoted by many as rivaling Super Sentai and Kamen Rider productions.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Reiji Osakabe/R0 from the movie, to the point where he plays a much larger role in the sequel series.
  • Ending Fatigue: The show follows a standard Sorting Algorithm of Evil up until the climatic death of Maaen in episode 38. It then becomes clear that, either for creative or budgetary reasons, the show did not have a new villain or gimmick to fill the gap until Batsu's introduction in episode 49, so it just Handwaves Maaen back into existence and brings back a parade of the previous villain gimmicks.
  • Fridge Logic - At the end of episode 38, despite the saw portion of Drill being excluded from the ultimate combination, the damaged remains of Drill show it attached.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Reiji only gets two fight scenes in the entire series, but he more than makes them count.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Eiji Ishiguro/R5 may be more recognizable as Akira Date from Kamen Rider OOO nowadays.
    • Hilariously, his main ally on the show and its main protagonist is also named Eiji.
  • Special Effects Failure: Rescue Force uses the standard CGI quality of the time period it was made in, and with the monsters and vehicles almost no attempt is made to make them appear more realistic.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: That being said, it follows the same principle as contemporary Toku shows in making up for it: Give the viewers an ABSOLUTE SPECTACLE. Rescue Force delivers on this with utter audacity, as not only are the vehicles utterly GIGANTIC but the presentation is crafted spectacularly well, leaving viewers with their eyes glued to the screen as soon as the heroes break out the toys (which considering it's Merchandise-Driven nature is more literal than anything... not that that's a bad thing).
