YMMV / Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: This frame from the movie has made people think of Tom as a pervert.Explanation
  • Awesome Music: The redone renditions of classic Wizard of Oz songs are actually pretty well done
  • Broken Base: Depending on who you ask, they either consider this film okay, or one of the worst Tom and Jerry films.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Tuffy singing "If I Only Had a..." for miles.
    • Droopy being a Winkie captain.
    • The ruby slippers shocking the Wicked Witch, giving her a full body electric shock that briefly shows off her skeleton.
    • Tom attempting to have a Moment of Awesome by threatening the Wizard... only to see the projection and runaway screaming.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • When Miss Gulch takes Toto away from Dorothy, Tom and Jerry were incredibly saddened by this and what do they do about it? They fixed a makeshift bike and went after Miss Gulch and managed to save Toto. Lesson learned from these movies... It's never a good idea to upset BOTH Tom and Jerry!
      • That and the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" song. Watching Tom and Jerry do everything they can so Dorothy won't be interrupted while singing, then kicking back with the other animals (minus Tom's relapse of almost eating those two birds) to enjoy it.
      • Speaking of Dorothy, they're willing to put their rivalry aside to save her when she's in trouble.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • Tom and Jerry making a makeshift bicycle to save Toto.
    • Later, Tom and Jerry also try to protect Dorothy from the Wicked Witch.
  • Narm:
  • Older Than They Think: Oz was in fact also an MGM Animation property thanks to Chuck Jones work producing bumpers for Off To See The Wizard. As such one can actually argue this movie is just an MGM Animation Bat Family Crossover no different from Droopy or Screwy Squirrel showing up. Few recall Off to See the Wizard or that things produced after the closing of the original MGM Animation studio count towards the MGM library to make this association except the most ardent history buffs.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Tuffy is an androgynous young mouse. His voice is unisex and often accidentally sounds feminine (especially when singing). Being voiced by Kath Soucie using her Phil and Lil voice definitely has an effect.
