- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The Yum Yums are huge in Japan to the point that anything that could conceivably have merchandise made out of it does, and cartoon-exclusive characters were given toys there and nowhere else.
- Heartwarming Moments: When Sour Sue goes to free the Yum Yums, she explains that unlike the rest of the Sourpusses, she doesn't think there's anything wrong with having fun, then starts to cry because she thinks there's something wrong with her. The Yum Yums reassure her that nothing's wrong with her, and she's very relieved.
- Sweetness Aversion: With candy-coated characters, a sugary-sweet setting, and villains that aren't very threatening, the special and toys can be overly sweet for some.
