- Adorkable: Conor and Linda are kind of shy and awkward with each other in a sweet sort of way in stark contrast to Jock and Siobhán.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Billy Murphy due to his Friendly Enemy Laughably Evil Anti-Villain tendencies, utterly hilarious lines, and a memorable scene where he sings "After All" by the Frank And Walters, has endeared himself to viewers.
- Friendly Fandoms: With Derry Girls. Fans of both shows are clamouring for a crossover. (Though it would be difficult, since one takes place in 1995 and the other in 2007.)
- Ho Yay: Conor and Jock to the point where they have a "practice kiss" and almost cup each other's genitals. Lampshaded by Mairead who asks Conor if he's gay.
- Memetic Mutation: Groups of fans in Billy Murphy masks have started appearing at soccer matches in Cork. "I'm Billy Murphy" t-shirts have been sold to capitalise.
