  • Awesome Music: The main theme is very atmospheric and beautiful to listen to.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Unlike most adaptations, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" is not cut in this version and it's even stranger than the novel. Mole and Rat just kind of stumble on this deity while looking for Portly, say they're not afraid and then he disappears with no explanation.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Toad, as always, is easily the most popular character. You can tell that Rik Mayall was having a blast voicing him.
  • Ho Yay: Just like in the novel, Mole and Water Rat show shades of this. Living together is possibly the least intimate gesture that passes between them.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Vanessa Redgrave's velvety narration.
