• Jerkass Woobie: Anna. She's been through hell, and it certainly wasn't her fault. It was just bad luck of ancestry and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But by the time of the story she's so broken that she'll try to sell someone else to the same fate and casually murder her only companion without a second thought. And then, on the brink of escaping, she betrays them all again. Mouse can't bring herself to hate her after everything, but Anna was still a pretty awful person by the end.
• Paranoia Fuel: Mouse thinks that this is the worst part of having lived through this. She's learned that the world has supernatural things in it, that it doesn't work like she thought it did, that it's dangerous... and she doesn't know anything about how it does work or what to be afraid of. For all she knows her dog barking at a trash can could be a critical warning, but it could also be nothing at all.
